Sophie

Hi I'm Sophie, as the founder of Elephant Tutors, I am passionate about making STEM subjects both engaging and accessible for students. Holding a First-Class Honours Master's in Chemistry from Cardiff University, where I am currently pursuing my PhD, I bring a blend of academic expertise and a genuine love for teaching to every lesson. My strong background in Chemistry, Biology, and Maths A-Levels at Peter Symonds College, Winchester, has equipped me to work with students of all levels, from KS2 (Primary) through to university preparation.

 

Before becoming a tutor, I developed a strong foundation in teaching and mentoring through my roles as a Swimming Teacher and Netball Coach. These early experiences taught me the value of patience, clear communication, and building confidence; skills I now carry into my tutoring sessions.

 

I am an experienced tutor who focuses on a tailored, student-centred approach that combines interactive lessons, quizzes, and past paper practice to reinforce key concepts and exam techniques. Each lesson is carefully designed to target individual needs, address weaker areas, and align with specific exam boards and grade levels.

 

I take pride in fostering long-term, trusting relationships with my students, helping them not only improve their grades but also gain confidence and develop a passion for STEM subjects.

 

My goal is to empower students to reach their full potential, whether through academic success, newfound confidence, or a lasting curiosity in science and maths.
